Happy Birthday John : a Muse Mantra of John Lennon

9/10/2015

For about 6 months I have had a few photos of John Lennon in my 'To Draw' file on my desktop ....

If you've been following along, I drew Ringo's Muse Mantra in July when he turned 70, and then Cilla Black after she sadly died so suddenly .... Recently I have drawn Queen Elizabeth II and James Corden.

This week I suddenly I got the urge to draw John, it was like I was being guided to draw him and spend some time with him. As you may or may not know I connect with my Reiki guides which help me channel messages as I draw, I integrate Reiki symbols into the image and I felt John telling me 'What a mess', Just love will ya'.

It was only yesterday that I saw a post about a gathering in Liverpool on Friday to remember John that I took a deep intake of breath and checked his birthday. Of course! October 9th.

So here is my message to you from John.

"Love is the flower, you've got to let it grow." (lyrics: Mind Games)

and his direct message, which was:

'What a mess - just love will ya."

Feel the loving warmth of a Reiki Portrait

2/10/2015

Being Drawn combined with a distant Reiki Healing session is an innovative therapy - it is one that has evolved in my healing practice. Laura from Holistic Mama was a recipient last week, I feel blessed: Read her testimonial:

"Last week I had a Reiki Healing Portrait and Muse Mantra done by the amazingly talented Jules Dolly Art, this fabulous experience includes a distance reiki healing as Julia creates the art work which includes my mantra. To feel the loving warmth of Reiki surrounding me helped me to refocus, and also allow myself to recognise I needed to take the time for some much needed self-care. Since having the portrait done I have felt more focussed, grounded and inspired with life and work."

It was a truly great healing experience and I would recommend it to everyone"

Vision with the Muse - a 2 week guided course to create your first ever Vision Book

21/9/2015

Picture
Open for registration! Yay!!

I am really excited to be guiding you on this 2 week guided course I have designed, called Vision with the Muse.

Connect with your Muse, Listen to the Whispers and Discover a Cool Tool to give them a voice.

This is for Men and Women :)

This is purely an ONLINE course and accessible to all.

I have been using visioning in my life for the past 20 years, since I was introduced to it at University while I studied my degree in Health.   I have taught vision day workshops in person for 10 + years, they have been weaved into my many 'normal' jobs working in the corporate world.  Whether delivering a session on career development, or health and well-being.  I have used them with clients in counselling and coaching sessions.

I have always found a way to introduce 'Vision Boards, or Books' to new people.

This is the first time I am weaving it all together in an online course.

So tell me, is this is for you?

Have you often wondered how people use these vision books? Are they just collage? Can anyone do it?

Have you ever wondered how to begin and what to do?

In creating this course, I will share how you can use Muse Mantras as prompts to help you with your health and well-being, your passions and possibilities.

Cultivate a beautiful mindfulness practice into your life and connect to your authentic voice, where you can discover aspects of yourself that have remained hidden.

You'll begin to hear the whispers - really - you will.

Find ways to unwind and explore using visual imagery and words.

Prompts will be from 7 Muse Mantras especially chosen to relate to health + well-being, our bodies, beauty, joy, passions, possibilities, balance, quiet time and sparkles!

I will guide you how to take the prompt and create a page.

  • Be moved by your pages
  • Feel confident by your creative self
  • Be proud of your ability to create a page that not only speaks to you but also supports you and gives you indications.

Start to feel differently about yourself and your life.

Visioning for health, self esteem, body confidence, bravery and purpose.

Questions:

When:  We kick off Monday 26th October for 2 weeks

How much: £25 for the course, bring a friend for free (share the cost, that's £12.50 each). #winwin
(email the name of your friend you're bringing/gifting when you sign up).

What do I need: A vision book, either an A4 book, or I love the plain Moleskine Cahier and they come in packs of 3 (Ruled is also fine). A glue stick, pair of scissors and stack of magazines (which you can get at hair salons and/or dentists/libraries)

Do I need to be artistic?: Heck no! You really don't need to be artistic or creative - let that thought go.  I will guide you with emails and videos.

What if I'm away:  You will still receive all my emails and videos so you can do this any time.

I am a seasoned Visioner - will this be for me?  I have found that working with the Muse Mantra Prompts is absolutely beautiful and very powerful.  So if you want to rekindle your love of visioning, need a boost, or love the community around visioning, then this is for you too.

What will you get? You will receive daily emails from me, (we'll break and breathe a little on the weekend). These will be a combination of guidance, videos and stories.  In that time you'll create 7 Vision pages based on 7 prompts from the Muse Mantras.

There will also be a closed Facebook Group: where you can share, ask and be guided by each other as you move along this process.  From experience, these groups are uber powerful.

This is a health and healing programme for the wellness of body, mind and spirit.  Connect to your inner Muse and the Muse around you through your vision pages and discover what you need to feel healthy, ignite your passions, imagine possibilities and rediscover your purpose.

Registration is Open Now, I am so excited for you to be joining me.

It is entirely an online course, as long as you have an email address and a broadband connection, you will receive all the prompts and videos.  The Facebook group is optional.
Do you have any questions? If so please do email me and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

£25 GBP  approx $38 USD

Drawing James Corden and creating his Muse Mantra

16/9/2015

Picture
I love drawing men and they get a reiki healing at the same time ‪#‎winwin‬

This week, Inspired by James Corden and his FANTASTIC Carpool Karaoke with Stevie Wonder, I decided

He's Da Man, this week.

So I set about drawing him.

Was he going to be difficult - last week was HRH Queen Elizabeth II, this is still a big ask as I haven't drawn many men but boy, they really need some soothing don't they?

I love what he's doing in the world ... a heart centred soul!

Watch this!

Picture
This quote just beckoned me as his mantra:

'Funny is funny and if it's good, it travels.'

We all need funny don't we?

Here's a video of me doing the entire image from start t'finish (featuring my dog who sat on my lap all the way through as she was spooked by some noise outside.)

Enjoy

Drawing HRH Queen Elizabeth II

7/9/2015

I set myself a challenge this week of drawing Queen Elizabeth II.

I know!!!

Could I?

Her Royal Highness has been on the thrown here in the United Kingdom for 63 years and so I decided that this would be a great challenge for me.

First things first to take a good look through the archives and become inspired by photos of her through the ages.

My Muse Portraits are not based around age, they capture the inner you, so I obviously was pulled to draw HRH when she was younger.

Picture

I think I have her reflection - do you?

In choosing her mantra for the Muse Mantra, I discovered the quote from a 1957 Christmas speech, which I think is very apt for these times.

Picture
I also videoed me creating the illustration - it's a techy kinda thing for me to record them as I love making mini films.

Enjoy!

Stepping out - submitting one of my painting's to an exhibition

24/8/2015

I submitted my canvas By your side, Always, to Arts Hub 47 in Lark Lane, Liverpool for their upcoming exhibition in September called Outside Looking In, Inside Looking Out'.

I found out that I have been accepted!

I am still pinching myself a little, this is the first piece I have ever put forward.

There is a story behind this painting - isn't there always?!!

By your side, Always

Picture
Materials used: Mixed Media: tissue papers, stamps, acrylics, wax pencils, watercolours, acrylic pens and illustration.
The story
Close friendships have stories to tell.

What we sometimes see from the outside is incorrect and sometimes what we feel from the inside is incorrect.

Friendships have many stories to tell.

This painting was inspired by a long time friend of mine.

We lived in the same road, just houses away from each other and from a young age, we would spend hours riding our bikes, building tents in the garden and singing with gusto.

As we got older, we formed a duo and performed at concerts around our community.

Me on guitar and her on banjo.

She moved to another country when she was 21 and before she went, she wrote me a wonderful letter, which I still hold close to me nearly 20 years later, a photocopy of parts of the letter are included in the painting.

In this letter she told me how she truly felt about our friendship.

Writing from the heart, she wrote
:-

"I am incredibly lucky to have you as a friend.  You always look forwards and never backwards and tackle new things and I know you can do whatever you set your mind to in your life. It just takes time, so, practice.  You've got what it takes, so never doubt your own abilities.”
This painting is my way of honouring our friendship... I know it's a small step but I truly feel very proud to be her friend and to have known her for over 40 years (yikes!)

Picture
The exhibition starts on September 5th so if you are near the Liverpool area, why not pop down to Lark Lane, which in its own right is a gorgeous little bohemian street.  Maybe I'll see you there!

Drawing Cilla Black - A Muse Mantra In Memoriam

23/8/2015

Liverpool said goodbye to Cilla Black on Thursday.

I loved Cilla when she was singing in the 60s and part of the Merseybeat crowd so I was inspired to draw her from this time period.

As a Liverpool gal, I have grown up watching Blind Date.

It was my go-to Saturday night pre going out entertainment!

I felt a real pull to draw Cilla and started to scan through images of her over the last 60 years.

Picture
I always love to scan through lots of images to find photos to inspire the initial sketch.

This time I came across some lovely 60s snaps of Cilla and they piqued my interest.

Picture
Photo inspiration #1 Was unable to find the credit for this photo
Picture
Photo #2 Inspired by the dress fabric Unable to find credit for photo
After drawing the illustration, I then begin to fill with colour, using professional markers, pens, wax pencils and I fill the image with Reiki symbols.

When this is finished, I then scan it in and turn to the digital element to create the Muse Mantra.

Picture

The mantra I chose is a song called 'Step inside Love', which was recorded in 1968 and it was written by George Harrison so it seemed the most apt mantra for Cilla's Muse Mantra.

I hope you see the essence and reflection of Cilla.

I recorded a speeded up video of me doing this illustration : )

We all need to Step Inside Love, don't we?

5 ways to create your Holiday At Home

21/8/2015

I sometimes struggle with putting myself first.

Do you?

It seems that if we do, we may be seen as selfish.

Funny word that 'selfish'.

Self .......... ish

The dictionary definition is: lacking consideration for others; concerned chiefly with one's own personal profit or pleasure.

When I look at the Thesaurus alternatives, I'm faced with:

Egocentric, egotistic, egotistical, egomaniacal, self-centred, self-absorbed, self-obsessed, self-seeking, self-serving, wrapped up in oneself; inconsiderate, thoughtless, unthinking, uncaring, uncharitable; mean, miserly, grasping, greedy, mercenary, acquisitive, opportunistic; informal looking after number one.

My definition of selfish means 'focused on self' and certainly not all of those above.

Sometimes, just sometimes, we have to put ourselves first.

I am going to be itsy bitsy selfish this week as I take my holiday at home.

That means, saying no and putting myself first.   Does that make me selfish?

Holidays aren't the only time I want to feel, rested, relaxed, nurtured, off radar.

I want to feel this way during the year too.

This past two years I have been calling in my core desired feelings - feelings that light me and and fill my boots. Thanks to Danielle LaPorte and The Desire Map (check her out here)

Creative, Connected, Affluent, Radiant, Energised, Sensual, Divine.

Picture
Here are my 5 Ways to create your Holiday at Home

1. Make the Decision, find the time and block it out

Look at your diary and find at least 5 days clear.

You need to plan for this time.

Mark it on the calendar,

Make Space.

Dedicate the time.

I can't tell you how huge it is when you block out the time and not plan anything that is work related.

2. Tell Family, Friends, Colleagues, Potential Clients and Those Who Ask ... You're on holiday. When they ask where?  You say, 'At Home.'

It is very tempting to feel like you have to say yes to an appointment, a commitment or a work opportunity.

Imagine you're going away on holiday - you would decline.

You have to say the same.

"Oh, that week? I'm on holiday, can we reschedule for the week of ______________"

Whether you're taking 1 day, 2 or more, believe it, deserve it and let it sink in.    Say it.
Picture
3.  Create a holiday at home vision page.  Somewhere you can see it. (I take a photo and save it as my desktop background and also have it on my phone wallpaper).

I created a page in my vision book called 'Decadence'.  I used to do this when I was younger, only those times I'd call them mood books.

It nudged me to actually wake up and spend time finding out what I wanted for my holiday at home.

How?

1.  Think about the feeling you want to feel during your holiday time.

Is it relaxed, soothed, energised.

Cast your mind to previous holidays away - what feelings did they bring out in you?

2. Spend time with some magazines, scissors and glue stick.

Go with your gut instinct, just cut out what appeals and lights you up, even if you have no clue why.  Just cut.

3. Spend time placing it on your pages.

Really look at these images, what is pulling you?

No Art Instinct needed here.

Just Gut instinct.

This is where it begins.

See what your soul is calling for your holiday at home.

4. Write down how the images make you feel.

Spend a little time looking at the page you have created.

Write down what those images and words mean to you?

I wrote mine and here's what I wrote from looking at my vision page:

  • Swim daily
  • Buy peonies
  • Get my vinyls down from the loft
  • Drink champagne
  • Have a swedish massage
  • Draw and journal
  • Visit my local art gallery
  • Go to the Beach
  • Light lots of candles
  • Buy a quarter of sweets from the sweet shop.
  • Take Naps

All of this from my decadent vision page.

So go write down your feelings about your pages.

What are the images telling you?

5. Choose With Your Heart

When you look at your page and you have written out the feelings, you can begin to map out your week.

The list has to make you feel excited, energised, relaxed and recharged.

What can you weave into your holiday at home?

Visit your own city and find out what's on there.

I would love to hear what's on your list.

3 IMPORTANT STEPS YOU CAN TAKE TODAY TO LOVE YOURSELF MORE

11/8/2015

Picture
I remember a time, way back when I was 19 and I thought my legs were huge. Maybe they were, or maybe they weren't, this isn't the point.

Sitting here now, I'm wondering how I came to that conclusion and I think it was a mixture of moving through teenage years and being a bit 'plump-ish' and it didn't help that a guy I dated when I was 19 used to comment on my thighs.

Should have told him to 'bog off' back then when he started, rather than laughing it off and internalising it.

I look back at this now and think, what the hell was I thinking?

Somewhere in the dark recesses of my mind, I have always carried this with me.

Yet I have worked through it and pummelled it to the surface so it doesn't hold the same power and focus any more.

Sometimes have wobbles.

To my rational mind, (and maybe yours too) it doesn't make any sense, but over the years, I made sure to avoid certain things; like wearing a pair of shorts, or swimming with friends (bikini's were out!) and always going into changing rooms where there were cubicles, rather than the days where everyone just took their kit off in front of each other!

As a counsellor and healer, I have worked on myself a great deal.

I have my go-to list of things I do to help me heal, to rebalance.

My key's to calm.

Today, here are my 3 important steps that you can take today, to love yourself more.

1.) Dig out a photo of yourself that you LOVE.

Find one, but if you have more time, find more.

Gather them from over the years.

Why?

Well, often our brains tell us that we were a certain way but when we actually look at the photo, we can see that in fact our brains were misleading us.

They're FIBBING.

WE Need to UPDATE our Brains and Memories.

Annually.

I'm not talking about how thin you were back then; we are looking for evidence of when you used to think e.g. that your upper arms were horrendous.  Find the time or the outfit that you hated back then and show your current self that in fact :~

You were LOVELY.   JUST AS YOU WERE.  Be KIND.  Treat your self as a FRIEND.

Find pictures that totally throw that theory to the wind.

I remember recently looking back at a photograph of myself, wearing denim shorts (yes I did brave them) and my adult brain of today, said "You look lovely - there was nothing wrong with you!"

Yet, at the time, I distinctly remembering that panic feeling of "I'm not good enough" or "I don't look like the magazines" or "can I possibly wear these and look good?"

2) Stop talking about your body in a negative way

Ok, hands up, who is really horrible, nasty and cruel to a certain part of their body?

Hands down - don't panic.  We all do it.

The first very important step to loving yourself more is to stop berating your thighs, upper arms, ears, boobs, bottom, calves, toes * (insert your 'thing').

We would never talk to our best friend this way.  If we did, they would cry every day at home.  {I know for sure, that I would hate it if I knew my friend was crying every day because of something I said to her.}
What you focus on, GROWS BIGGER

It's a truth that if you spend time focusing on how massive your arse is (*excuse me but, had to be said) everytime you cast a backwards glance at your BOTTOM in a mirror, in a changing room, it will be HUGE.  When in fact it isn't.  It's a lie.

So stop doing this right now.  IT doesn't serve you and it won't help you LOVE yourself MORE.

Instead start reminding yourself EVERY DAY how fabulous your TUSH is (or whatever you berate).

I used to have a real hang up for my upper arms.  I would never wear anything that exposed them but more so, I would give a quick quip when I saw them in the mirror.

This is the very worst kind.

Quick Quips to the Mirror.  OOh girls, we can be so very nasty.

Not only that, we have hideous terms for women's body parts - so I want you to STOP doing this today. (I'm not going to even mention any of these names, because I will not give them The Light Of Day).

3) Be LOVING to your SKIN. Exfoliate today and start a weekly massage routine.

Some of us are lucky to live in countries where weekly massages are part of the culture and society.  Take Sweden, Hungary, Germany for example.  Going to have a weekly sauna and massage is part of SELF CARE and necessary to general well being.  I have realised in these last 10 years that massage is crucial to loving myself.

There is something magical about touch.  One that we forget.  We think it is based on being in a relationship and the partner doing it 'to' us.

In fact, touch, is a very core fundamental requirement for our sense of self - take this important step and seek it out.

  • Touch revitalises you.
  • Touch nurtures your skin
  • Touch allows you to relax deeply.
  • Touch gives the massage therapist permission to connect with your legs/thighs/upper arms) thereby giving you the go-ahead to LOVE them too.  (N.B You don't need to seek a massage therapist, but if you can, it will help you relax more into loving your self.)

Using sweet smelling essential oils with healing benefits, will send positive, loving messages to your heart spirit and soul.  Messages that say I LOVE this body.

Making time for a weekly massage is Wonderful, but can be tricky to fit in, so Monthly is truly delicious.

Picture
Picture
On top of that, once every week, make your own exfoliating scrub before you bathe, shower.  It's so much more gorgeous making this yourself than buying it.

In a small cereal bowl mix until you have a nice consistency, not runny and not too thick.
  1. Coarse Salt
  2. Honey
  3. Sugar
  4. Olive Oil
  5. Essential oil (optional) : any of these Geranium, Clary Sage or Lavender (I like it without, but depends on you.)

Prepare the ground in the bathroom by adding a towel on the floor, it can be a little messy; run your bath, and start from the feet upwards, include your heels. Now gently begin to add it to each leg, massaging in circles.  Move upwards towards the heart.  All the way up.  Breasts, Back, Buttocks (where you can reach), Upper Arms, Shoulders,  Do this all yourself.

Don't exfoliate your face as this mixture can be a little rough.  But your front and back neck is a good place if you go a little more gently.

You will by now be smelling really YUMMY.

Get into the bath, or shower and watch how smooth, oily and delicious your skin is.

This is the 3rd and very important step in loving yourself more today.

I don't tend to make stock piles of this exfoliator, I just make it as I use it.  It forms part of my ritual.

I have no doubt that if GP's prescribed a weekly massage to their patient to help treatment for depression, migraines, anxiety, I am certain there would be a reduction in pharmaceutical drugs and a huge decrease in their drug budget. *just saying*.

I would love to know what you do to love yourself more today.

Let's make a LIST.

What's on your Loving Kindness List?

3/8/2015

Picture
"A correct relationship to your self is primary, for from it flow all possible right relationships with others and with the Divine".  The Book of Runes.

This week I picked up my Relationship Runes by Ralph Blum and Bronwen Jones.  I haven't connected with them in quite a few years and I was drawn to pull them off the shelf.

I sat for 10 minutes holding all 25 runes between my palms I just closed my eyes and asked for guidance.  These past few months I have been holding on too much - trying to do everything all at once with my creative healing business and while I'm doing that, I'm losing sight of myself.

Then when I picked the Rune "Mannaz", meaning Loving Kindness.

I knew that I was telling myself something.

Am I forgetting that I need to look after my self first?

For starters, letting go of the critical and unkind voice that pops up if I spend time doing something not related to my business.

Forgiving myself for making mistakes.

The Runes tell me that loving kindness begins at home {obviously I know that but sometimes we need a little nudge of a reminder don't we?} so instead of being intent on changing or becoming a better person, showing loving kindness for myself is about befriending who I am already!

"Ok, I'm listening,"  I say to myself.

I need to truly learn to be gentle and honest with myself, with loving kindness.

Self love is not being Selfish (which really just means Self-ish} Often we hear that talked about in the wrong context.

So, for me, what do I mean by self love?

1. Eating nourishing plant based foods instead of turning to biscuits, crisps & chocolates.

2. Taking 30 minutes every day to hoop.

3. Having a monthly Reiki/Reflexology/Massage/Shiatsu session.

4. Taking the time to blow dry my hair properly.

5. Sketching Every Day/Writing Every Day/Painting Happy*

6. Allowing myself to feel sensual.

7. Spending time trying on clothes in the shops in stead of a quick one two three (or even not going at all).

8. Really creating a vision of what clothes I want rather than just buying any old thing.

9. Making the effort with what I'm wearing when I'm working from home.

10.Watching movies that really make me smile and laugh. I'm a huge fan of Disney movies from my childhood.

It really does all start with us first, doesn't it?

As we learn to love ourselves, we also then beam out love to those around us.

The Rune of Loving Kindness split in half is the rune of Celebration with it's mirror image, so it's as if the rune is telling me:- JUST ENJOY YOURSELF JULIA, LOVE AND ACCEPT YOURSELF JUST AS YOU ARE AND YOU WILL BEGIN TO NOTICE CHANGES IN ALL LIFE.

We don't need Mark Darcy to tell us, do we, we need to tell it to ourselves!
What's on your Loving Kindness List?

#PeaceandLove Ringo Starr's 70th Birthday Muse Mantra

7/7/2015

Picture
I love The Beatles.

Being a Liverpool Lass, their music and lyrics have always made me smile.  In teaching myself the guitar when I was 15, their sheet music was never far away from me.

So when I realised it was Ringo's 70th Birthday on 7th July, I wanted to draw him.

When I begin to draw a healing portrait I always go seeking out some photographs for inspiration, I never ever copy but I'm inspired by different eras and how they looked, what they wore.

My intention is always to create my own version.  With Ringo, I was inspired by this photo (left).
I get inspired by the inner person, the light within their eyes and the true essence of that soul.

Ringo is no exception and this photo had a light, a spark in his eyes.

All Muse Mantras begin with a healing portrait and here is the finished illustration.
Picture
I then take that image and create a Muse Mantra.

Picture
This time I filmed the whole creation from start to finish, so you may like to make yourself a cup of tea and sit back to watch.  (I had to flip the camera in editing as I realised that it was a tad wonky, so sorry for that!)

Lots of Love

Drawing Your Animals In-Spirit, creating a healing muse portrait, giving them a voice, listening to their messages.

I sat in the bath and cried, cried and cried.

Tears for the dogs in Yulin.

As an empath, this touches me so very deeply, the pain and mistreatment of all sentient beings /animals all over the world.

Dogs are my totem.  They are my spiritual soul mate, walking by my side for the most part of my life.  Walking, talking, and gently nudging me on my journey.

Monty, Mitzi, Benjie, Lucy and now the lovely Luna Joy.

I am honoured to have walked this path with them, they each hold a piece of me and I hold a piece of them.

Two and a half years ago, Lucy, my beloved Jack Russell died quite suddenly - she was 14 years and 2 months.  A pretty healthy Jack with a zest for life, we discovered she had tumours on her heart and she declined in 7 days.  We had to make the agonising decision of releasing her.

It was a devastating bereavement for me.  Lucy had been my life, my constant fur partner.  She moved wherever I went, we house shared with three others after my divorce, we travelled, we had adventures.  She visited Cornwall, Cumbria, Scotland and France.  She gained a new step dad whom she loved.

Her time to go to Rainbow Bridge

As we said goodbye to her, we wrapped her still warm body and I held her close to my heart as we travelled 45 minutes to the pet cemetery Sleepy Meadows.  It was here that me and my husband, (her new step dad) prepared to say our goodbyes.

We brushed her, cleaned her, wrapped her in her blanket that would now be her shroud and buried her with her favourite things;  Scooby Doo, who had been her mate for 14 years, a ball, a piece of carrot, (her favourite veg), snowflake obsidian and rose quartz for her journey to Rainbow Bridge.

We cried through our prayers, we sang our Lucy songs, sobbed and sobbed as we lowered her into the grave, filling in with soil after her.

Numb, we came home.

The grief took hold of me.

Friends and family who didn't understand didn't call.  Friends and family who knew were right there.

I created an altar, a shrine to Lucy, I lit a candle every night for how long, I can't tell you.

Months.

I wrote to her every day and I knew I would make her headstone.  All these forms of creative expression helped me to spend time with her and honour my bereavement.    I was feeling guilty about the release, I worried she hated me, I felt distraught and angry that the vets didn't do any more.

Did I tell she died on our 1st Anniversary.

Yes, that's a tough one too.

I love making short videos and I made one for Lucy.

Picture

I look back at the ritual of her burial and realise just how important it was for my grieving.  To lay her to rest at the end of her life was a privilege.  I wouldn't want anyone else to do that.   Why would I? I loved and cared for her through her life, from 8 weeks old, I would love and care for her at this time of departing too.   Creating her headstone from scratch was something that I poured my heart and tears in to.

As I sat in the bath, crying those deep tears I just knew how blessed Lucy was.

Our non-human animals are shining lights for us, our healers, our guides, our friends and our teachers.

I have being drawing animals in this world, for a while now and I now I am being called to draw animals who have passed over, you may want a drawing together with you, or on their own.

Do you have a beloved Animal In-Spirit who has passed over to Rainbow Bridge?  Either recently or a long time ago?

If you are feeling called to have your beloved pet represented in this healing muse art - please get in touch here.

I want to draw them as a blessing and as a healing for you and for them.

We may be talking about your cat, dog, horse, rabbit, hamster, budgie, parrot.

I want to give them a voice.  I want to hear their words.

As an energy artist and healer, I listen to their messages.  I calm and soothe.

They may be drawn with wings, with their toys, we will chat about this as I prepare to complete the drawing for you.

Picture

How do I draw my Healing Muse Art?

All my drawings start off by hand, with pencil, after I spend time connecting with your animal.  I follow this with colour, with professional markers, pens, wax pencils so you'll resonate with their image.

During the drawing of your Animal In-Spirit, I infuse Reiki symbols into the image, symbols for emotional well-being and soothing any past hurts, for you and for them.

I have always known I can talk with animals and yet I have never really 'come out' about it.

Now I am.

It's time.

This week on the blog, I share an insight I had recently into the difference between setting a goal and knowing it's a goal and a task.  I help this all along with a Muse Mantra reading for clarification and understanding.

I just love creating portraits as 'blessings' and here is a recent one that I did.  Follow the photo progress of its becoming.  Framed - they really do honour a new abode.  With all of my work, I draw Reiki symbols into illustrations, symbols for emotional well being, balancing present issues and healing past hurts.

Jules!  Thanks so much for our wonderful portrait. It was such a kind thought from Rachael and it was a lovely surprise seeing our finished 'dollystration'. I love the energy about it, what it represents and the thought and effort you have put into it.

With lots of love and best wishes,

Does your business have a Spirit Muse? Hell Yeah!  Follow the progress of The Willow's Raven

12/5/2015

When Sheila Howe of The Willows Raven approached me to design her Business Spirit Muse, my heart skipped a beat.  This is something I just adore doing.  Being involved with your business image, whether new or existing helping you to visualising the essence and reflection and then transforming that into something that acts as a totem, a talisman, a front runner for you.  This makes my heart sing.

Sheila was extremely open to what her Business Spirit Muse looked like.  The Willows Raven supports, guides and nurtures womens' dreams and desires, healing what lies beneath.  She teaches women how to get back to creating ritual in their lives.

Social worker and Priestess, she is Very Unique.

I have drawn Sheila twice and this was her recent Muse Mantra from September 2014.

She was definitely 'being her own magic'.

Picture

My aim was to bring to 2D-life her very own business in the guise of a muse, someone who would represent her business, call it a logo if you will, but this is far more authentic and heart centred.

Let's start with Pinterest

To start with I encouraged Sheila to make a secret Pinterest board for me: she named it The Priestess Spirit and I was so glad she did.   In this board, I was taken into a world of colour, imagery, art, braided hair, priestesses, rituals, ravens and healing medicine women.

As I immersed myself in it, I sketched items that stood out for me, beginning to build a picture and pulling different aspects together.

Picture
All along the way as I sketch, I'm channelling The Willow's Raven Spirit Muse, I sent Sheila a photo of the sketching process as I was creating (thank goodness for iPhones!)

I got replies back like

Holy hell yes!!!!  OMG.  Oh Julia, I am so completely in love with her!

Yes, yes, yes.  My husband thinks she is badass.  I agree.

She amazes me.  You need to keep doing this.  It is an incredible way to support women in business, and you have a gift for it.  I love how each one is so unique and so perfect for each of us.

I knew I was on the right path.

It was at this point that I asked Sheila to think of her name and the mantra that would accompany her.

"Miss Evangeline" said Sheila, "that's her name."

Filling in the colour, by hand, drawing in Reiki symbols to boost the power totem of this illustration, I was birthing the essence of Miss Evangeline,  she was becoming.

The Mantra that Sheila was pulled to was
. . .

"That which you seek is already within you."

Truly Magical

Picture
Miss Evangeline is now the totem (and logo) for The Willows Raven and I am so proud of her.

Having the finished image, I then created her into a digital delight and transformed her into a postcard that Sheila could upload directly to an online printing company and within 3 days of receiving her  from me, 250 postcards were delivered.   I received this awesome photo which shows them in their packaging,

"From the very beginning, the process of creating my Business Spirit Muse was a joy.  Julia provides phenomenal customer service, and ensures you are included in every step of the process.  Even though it is Julia's hands and talent that created her, I always felt that my opinions, desires, and dreams for Miss Evangeline were valued and honored.  From the first sketches that were sent through each step of the process, I felt empowered and involved.  There are simply not enough words to describe how pleased I am to have had this opportunity, or for the love I have for the remarkable finished product.  My business now has its own Muse, and I couldn't be happier.  I highly recommend this to any woman in business." Sheila

It is always an HONOUR

It is always an honour to work with you to create the essence and the Muse of your business.

I'd love to create yours.

You know your business has a spirit, it has an identify, a feeling, an essence, what does it look like?

Together let's find her.

I can tell you, she will be unique.

We can do this for your online courses, your health, your relationships.

But for now, let's talk Business.

Check Sheila's offerings out at The Willow's Raven and let's Skype or Facetime (just discovered this and it's so fun) if you have a creative spark happening and you would like me to create your Spirit Muse, Business Cards, Postcards, Facebook covers, or avatar pics.

Till next time

Revealing the secret woman featured on my Muse Mantra Badge: Kimberley Jones

30/4/2015

Picture
You may notice the Muse Mantra badge that is featured around my website and wonder what the story is behind this glorious woman.... well let me introduce you to Kimberley Jones.

I have been working with Kimberley Jones since January.
Kimberley is a down-to-earth, 4th generation intuitive ‘seer’, mystic energy artist, intuitive business coach and award-winning spiritual mentor from Devon in the UK.  Described as “a real life spirit guide” Kimberley is an awakening expert, Soul Whisperer and teacher who has worked with thought leaders, celebrities, businesses, musicians, healers, actors, artists and every day awakening women all over the world.

Her purpose in this lifetime is as Spiritual Midwife for the re-emergence of the Divine Feminine in the real lives of real women.
We met online via a mutual friend and almost instantly began chatting about the ways we could work together.   In our initial Skype chat we shared stories and recognised such similarities between our life paths.

Kimberley was really  keen to experience Muse Mantra Medicine and I was so eager to experience her Intuitive Spiritual Business Mentoring

The Muse Mantra Process

I ask a set of 7 questions, which help me to draw you, allowing you to dig a little deeper about your colour story, the clothes you're drawn to, the style of your inner muse and the intention of this healing medicine.  You may know this or you may not, but together we gently tease it out.   You then send me approximately 5-6 photographs.

After I drew Kimberley's original Muse (always hand drawn with pencils, pens and markers) I revealed her Muse Portrait (this is always shown first - often you know what the mantra is when you see yourself) what came through quite quickly was that Kimberley felt some deep issues rising for healing, which we discussed and reflected upon.  These issues hadn't surfaced for years and had remained hidden - and in my intuitive drawing process, it was clear that I had tapped into them.

Taking this further knowledge and insight from her and truly respecting this powerful medicine, I redrew Kim's Inner Muse and the next time she saw her, she was just taken aback by her.

Picture
"My experience of working with Julia and receiving my Muse Mantra has been so transformational. Every step of the way has helped me love and accept myself more and more and to let go of anything in the way of that. I have my Muse Mantra as my computer wallpaper and every day I see her she calls me deeper into my highest self, as a radiant, confident goddess. She is far more than a piece of gorgeous art. She is a totem and an ongoing healer for me. Thank you Julia for sharing your magical gifts in such a delightful way!" Kimberley.
We both felt the shift that had taken place, the healing, the discussion the processing between us had been very powerful and truly magical.

"She calls me deeper into my highest self as a radiant, confident goddess" Kimberley

Truly Magical

Picture
Her Mantra soon followed and it is here that the magical totem became a reality.

So many times I hear of women who have taken leaps and bounds in the lives, in their business, with their health, their body image and self esteem and I know for sure, without a shadow of doubt that their Muse Mantra is working her true magic in the background.

She is subtly, gently, quietly nudging you forward to take steps that need to be taken, to heal from what is broken, to calm your mind and soothe your soul so you can see your true potential so you can step forward in your light.

Here's Kimberley and her Muse - do you feel the healing within the Muse?

We went on to work together further - Kimberley as my intuitive business mentor - this helped me to become much more clearer about my message, my healing art, website and soulful branding.  With further Skype chats, Kim's swift intuitive guidance gave me another perspective to my work.   I feel so different moving forward with my art and illustration, helping women entrepreneurs to soulfully brand and vision their business and muse.

Here's why.......
“Kimberley has been the intuitive coach I have been seeking for such a while now. At our very first Skype chat, she listened, attentively, allowing me the space to talk, and then she reflected back her guidance, which was like WOW. She knew how I was feeling, she could see my vision, her guides could too. We have gone on to have more sessions and what I know for sure is she is empathic beyond measure and deeply respectful of where you’re at in your business. She has so much experience in her medicine bag that it overflows. Her guidance and support has helped me to restructure my offerings and website structure. She has been my 2nd pair of eyes and as an energy artist and healer herself, she knows exactly how it feels to be a woman in business and a spiritual woman entrepreneur working in the online field.”  Jules
I hope you have enjoyed finding out about this process... do let me know how you felt seeing Kimberley and her Muse.  Pop over to visit Kimberley's online home www.kimberleyjones.com
