A few weeks ago towards the end of the online course I was running called Rebalance Me, I created a Colouring-in-Muse for my participants to do. This is such an important area of rebalancing - I wholeheartedly believe that it needs to be part of our healing tool kit when it comes to re-aligning and rebalancing our health. Creativity helped me to shift the focus OFF my illness and on to something that had a positive outcome. Even if it was for 10 minutes. For me, colouring in played a part. When I was younger, I always turned to colouring in as way to channel the ill health - whether I had a virus in bed, coping with a cold, chicken pox or flu - there would never be a time when I was without my colouring book and my pencil case full of Berol felt pens. I also used to love the A1 posters you got called DoodleArt, which came with a pack of 10 Berol pens - it used to take me ages to complete but I would love them. I guess with all the Soul Portraits I create now, you can see why! Colouring-in enabled me to 'zone out' and immerse myself in something else that wasn't about the ill health.
I coloured, I doodled, I created shapes. Words, flowers, trees, hearts, angels, teddy bears, dogs. I found books to colour in or I spent time doodling in a plain white sketch book, colouring in as I went along. This was about picking up pens and colour and allowing myself to be taken into a colouring-in meditation. On a deeper level this is inner child heart work. I know working with clients in private practice and having been in therapy myself, connecting to our inner child helps to heal and look after the small child within us. This inner child has many parts - but two are the free spirited little you and the adapted/conditioned little you. Colouring in tapped into my free spirited little Julia. This is what I want to invite you today to do - shift the focus and tap into your free spirited little you. Today I am giving you one a new Colouring-In-Muse. She's called 'Be Still'. I had such fun doing this for you. Click here to download the page. (You'll also get another one that's there for you.) Spend 15 minutes colouring in and your day will feel lighter and brighter, lifted and calmer. *note: for printing off, let the black ink dry thoroughly before you start otherwise it will run. You may also be able to print on draft. It should print as an A4 page. Here's mine! Why not let me see your finished page? They're all going to be different aren't they? Tell me how you felt doing it in the comments below.
